The border line with the city in China where we crossed, you can see the wires. It's surprisingly low key given DPRK is supposed to be a fortress state and this spot is right next to the city of Dandong
Propaganda ferris wheel in Sinuiju. It wasn't going round when we were there. Not sure if it's ever worked!
And a propaganda holiday village... somehow, I think it might not be conveying the intended message
One busted bridge and one working bridge... all traffic in and out of DPRK from China has to go over the train/truck bridge, including us
Going in: DPRK tourist visa
The train across the not busted bridge isn't exactly bustling with tourists! We were it for the day. 6 Westerners, and August is high season... DPRK gets about 1,500 "adventure" tourists each year
The countryside is really pretty. Endless rice paddies and the air is far cleaner than in China. Well, there is no industry - it's either fallen apart or banned by sanctions (or both)
More gorgeous country
Despite the lovely scenery life in the country looks pretty grim in places
